Francis was head of epidemiology and hepatitis labs for CDC; known as a principle discoverer of the AIDS virus. UBS trial focused on industry's ability to scan blood donations for HIV/AIDS after a child with hemophilia contracted the disease from a blood transfusion in 1983.
